Finding out you are pregnant with twins or more is such a blessed moment. Sadly, with TRAP, you will learn that there is a fatal problem with one of your babies and it is devastating. You may feel numb and experience a range of emotions that are all normal.
The diagnosis of TRAP is not a result of anything you did or did not do. It is not your fault. It is random problem due to the splitting of the embryo and the shared connections between the babies. Please always know that your twins are both meant to be or you would never have been pregnant with them. We just live in a world where evil comes in the form of disease. TRAP is one of those diseases.
We hope that through reading more about TRAP sequence, you will know what questions to ask your doctor and to get the best of care as you continue your pregnancy loving both of your children.
Even when knowing that one of your babies is not going to survive, you can still compassionately bring them both into the world, gather keepsakes, and have a memorial service for your baby. That gives you an outlet for your love for your baby, as you continue to love and care for his or her twin.
Sometimes, even after parents have done everything they can, they experience the loss of both of their babies. We just want you to know we care and pray that does not happen. We have help for you, and we hope you will join right away through our private Facebook groups with other parents who have been through a pregnancy with TRAP. We can talk with you one-on-one or just be with you to listen. You are not alone.
My name is Kristin and I am the TRAP Coordinator. For us, TRAP sequence was scary. With it being such a rare pregnancy, we weren’t sure what to think and we felt alone. Since then, I have tried to prevent this sense of loneliness from affecting other families with TRAP.
I am so glad to be The TTTS Foundation’s TRAP Coordinator to help support families who are currently going through TRAP or have already been through it. It is such a valuable thing to be able to talk with someone who has been through the same pregnancy as you have, especially when it is a pregnancy like TRAP.
Please reach out if you need anything at all and join our groups below for compassionate help and support.
