"I have been brought to tears witnessing Mary help families in deep distress over the phone completely become uplifted and empowered."

I’m proud to be Mary’s mother and I only wish I could help her more. Her dedication to mothers who need help and counceling is unwavering.

Much time is devoted to many phone calls from troubled, pregnant and scared women. These calls often result in grants for transportation, hotels and other grants when ultrasounds or surgery are required and financially needy families are in crisis.  She also often calls me for a morale boost or to discuss a problem. Currently getting the new web page ready has been a big effort with time restraints and obstacles along the way. Not enough hours in the day and I’m always telling her to get more sleep; too many all nighters!

My job as secretary is to keep us organized and in communication to reach our goals and objectives.  I send out all the thank-you notes to all our donors and along with my husband George we stuff, label and stamp thousands of annual letters each year.  The secret is to watch lots of TV and in that way the job takes only a few days.  And, of course, there is Twins Days every year to increase awareness to thousands of other twins.

I attended Ohio University and Ohio State University where I graduated with a BS in Medical Technology. I worked for 17 years as a clinical laboratory scientist at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland. I met my husband George in college when I was dating a fraternity brother. I asked to be “fixed up” with him as I thought he seemed my type.  Now he is 93 and I’m 88 and so far it has worked!

Mary is the youngest of 4 siblings and except our oldest, we all live nearby.  As long as I’m able I’ll be as helpful to Mary as I can and continue working hard on the board as we continue making a difference to parents all around the world.
